Performance and Engine of the Crosstrek 2026
Among a host of new features, the two main changes are found in the engine.
Indeed, the 2.5L that was reserved for the most luxurious versions is now standard on all gasoline versions. This engine produces 182 horsepower and is paired with a CVT transmission. Additionally, it will also be found on the brand new hybrid powertrain making its debut this year. The 2.0L engine has been withdrawn from the catalog to enhance the offering. The Subaru Crosstrek continues to offer a very reasonable fuel consumption, at 8.9 L/7.2 L/8.1 L/100 km city/highway/combined cycle.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek features a bold exterior design and an imposing presence.
This compact and capable vehicle features a sculpted body, a frameless hexagonal grille, directional LED headlights, and flared black wheel arches with functional vents both at the front and rear. The Onyx version stands out with its color scheme highlighted by bright yellow and gunmetal gray for a more striking visual effect.
2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid uses the 2.5L 4-cylinder Boxer engine, combining it with a hybrid system and a 1.1 kWh battery. This setup produces 194 horsepower.
But, no matter the engine selected, the Subaru Crosstrek will offer a towing capacity that reaches 680 kg (1,500 lb) and, of course, the very efficient symmetrical all-wheel drive system that is standard on all models of the Japanese brand. It is combined with the X-MODE and dual-function X-MODE system to maximize grip in difficult road conditions.
Additionally, all versions come with the very generous Subaru warranty.
