Subaru Hybrid Range Models

Subaru's electrification strategy is taking shape: following the launch of the new Solterra electric SUV, two well-known SUVs are now equipped with hybrid engines. Indeed, the Subaru Forester and Crosstrek are the first to feature the brand's new hybrid technology.

Subaru Forester

The Forester is one of the brand's iconic models, and it evolves significantly in 2025 with the arrival of a new generation. What better way to mark the occasion than by offering a new hybrid engine?

This engine is available on the Premier version at the top of the range. The e-BOXER engine hybrid consists of a 2.5L 4-cylinder combustion engine combined with a high-voltage 1.1 kWh battery. It delivers 194 horsepower and reduces fuel consumption, especially in the city!

Indeed, it offers a combined consumption of 6.9 L/100 km, with an estimated city consumption of 6.8 L/100 km (compared to 9.1 L for a gasoline Forester).
The 220 mm ground clearance and Subaru's constant symmetrical all-wheel drive system continue to make it a perfect adventure partner. Likewise, it sacrifices neither cargo space nor towing capacity: it's still the Forester you love, but more economical and a bit more powerful!
Additionally, it features the EyeSight driver assistance technologies, with its expanded field of view and software that detects pedestrians and cyclists more quickly, among other new features.

The price of the Subaru Forester hybrid has also been revealed for the Canadian market. Discover it at our dealership!

Upcoming Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

While a first Subaru plug-in hybrid model was offered in recent years, it has been replaced by Subaru's all-new hybrid system. Indeed, while this first plug-in hybrid Subaru was adapted from an engine made by Toyota, we will now have a system entirely designed by Subaru, for Subaru.
Like the Forester, the Crosstrek will be equipped with this new e-BOXER system combining a 2.5L 4-cylinder and two electric motors with a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery for a total power of 194 horsepower.
All-wheel drive, X-MODE function, and high ground clearance are part of the package, ensuring the same versatility that the Crosstrek is known for. On the outside, it will stand out with exclusive colors, 18-inch dark gray finished wheels, and an e-BOXER badge.
Inside, the latest generation technologies are also present, including enhanced EyeSight technologies. There is also an infotainment system with an 11.6-inch screen and an optional 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. This screen will display specific information about the hybrid system to help you get the most out of it.

The arrival of the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek hybrid is expected next fall at our Desjardins Subaru dealership in Quebec, near Lévis. More information will be coming soon!

## Subaru and Model Hybridization
Subaru's approach to hybridization is distinguished by its desire to preserve the brand's identity while reducing the ecological footprint of its cars. This is why engineers have sought to create a hybrid engine that uses an electrified engine without abandoning the Boxer engines.
The result: the e-BOXER technology, which uses a 2.5L Boxer engine and two electric motors. One of the motors delivers power to the wheels, and the other acts as a generator. Additionally, the larger fuel tank allows the vehicle to travel even further on a single tank.
The 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery is positioned under the floor and contributes to ride comfort by reducing vibrations and optimally distributing weight.
As for the drivetrain, Subaru hybrids retain the constant symmetrical all-wheel drive system for consistently exemplary traction.

Subaru Hybrids, Which Model to Choose?

Which model to choose among the 2025 Subaru SUVs ? With these new hybrid options, your choice will depend on your needs. Both are compact SUVs offering excellent off-road maneuverability and reduced consumption.

However, the Crosstrek is slightly smaller and lighter, offering remarkable agility in the city. The Forester, a bit larger, focuses primarily on interior comfort and offers a bit more cargo space.
Sometimes, the best way to choose is to try! Book your test drive at the dealership or ask our advisors for even more personalized advice.
